Little Fingers

How many parents our there, or even just plain adults,
are bewildered by the constant picking up of strange objects
by kids?

I know with our boys, you wonder some days, why they haven't lost digits
to the weird little things they get into...

Well, we went on a hike a day ago and of course we have the normal,
picking up sticks, throwing rocks, poking at slugs....you know the drill
if you have ever gone into wilderness with kids.

Not the constant, but pretty steady stream of an adults,
"Please put THAT down!"  or "Don't TOUCH that!"

I know you can hear it in your head as you read it!

Well, we couldn't even bring ourselves to utter those words,
let alone anything remarkably similar when approached by the kid
carrying this!

Imagine seeing a little body off a bit in the distance on a rocky beach,
coming towards you and obviously struggling with what appears to be,
a bowling ball!

What do you say, except the obvious, "What does he have NOW?"

When you see that it is a buoy, you have to be quite proud of his accomplishment!

This makes for a great story doesn't it?

Does it make you shake your head when I change the details to,
four boys see their mom in a distance carrying what looks like a bowling ball,
and when she gets closer they say, "Holy Balls!  Look at how big that is?"

I had to laugh at their reaction.  Nia was just plain thrilled with it, and
immediately wanted to carry it herself.

Now that was an event of its own making...

But I thought it was funny...here we went for a nice hike,
and came home with a nice big, black buoy for our troubles!

They Slew the Dragon!

The party was a smashing success, and coincidently the piƱata ended up smashed!  So smiles all around!

Local Flora

We are delighted to see some more of the local flowers blooming.  I am told that any day we will see the tulips poking out.  It is so fun to watch things grow and blossom here!

Hmmmm...

This is the conversation I overheard....I giggled and didn't know whether to be disturbed or just chalk it up to boys....

I am going to push you in! (of course this was said in a little kids rough and gruff impersonation)
No don't do it! (semi high kids normal voice)
Yes I can!
But I don't swim!....Don't push me in!
Well I'm going to do it!
No!  Please! Somebody save me!  Help, help, ahhh
Ha!  Silly fork, it's just the sink!

That girl!

I woke up this morning to hearing the music intro to a show Nia has enjoyed watching....
It's "Oh, Trotro, Oh Trotro...."  Netflix has it....

So I walked into the front room to tell her good morning and it isn't my sweet little girl sitting in the chair.  I have a little cousin it sitting there quietly instead!

Our Little ;) Princess (;

She is a little tyrant diva after our hearts most days...

...other's she looks like she is the product of an 80's style relationship of a
comb and a crimper...
those were the days!  ;)

Good Start

We had a good start to the weekend when we woke up to see a beautiful rainbow right out our front windows.  It was small enough you could see the whole thing, but big enough I couldn't get far enough away to get a picture of the full thing.  It was a beautiful thing to see!

Then it was even more fun with walks and kayaking.

Ender and Jenner talked me into taking them out for a little trip.  Boy was that an Adventure.  And yes that should be with a capital A!

This whole fun weekend was topped off very excitingly with the boys shooting off a bunch of bottle rockets they were given for their birthday's in March.

Yes, my boys like bottle rockets.  There is no doubt they are their father's boys!

The younger two egged them on every step of the way, so they enjoy them just as much, if not more...

Selfie's

I am not a big fan of selfies...

possibly because I look bluagh in them...

So call me self serving...but I figure it is also an act of human kindness
to not expose the rest of the world to those things...

However in playing on the computer with Ender yesterday we did
end up taking quite a few...and he thought this one was funny!

This was one of his other favorite ones.  He thought it made him look...."Super Crazy!"

What?

Do you ever have those moments in time when you think,
"What in the heck is that thing?"

I had one of those moments today as I looked out onto the beach....

I thought I would share what I saw!

All I can describe it as, is a Marioesque Superman Gandolf thing......
(Mario~the mustache, Superman~the cape, Gandolf~with his two sticks for "You Shall NOT Pass!")

Spring Flavor

Nia's choice of outfit on a beautiful Spring day....

thank goodness we don't let her escape from the house to often...I like her style sense...
but fuzzy jammy bottoms, rain boots, a camo hat and a sweater dress do not
constitute "day on the town" attire I think...

We had beautiful April Fool's day weather....and then came the trick!
The next day we got several inches of snow!

Jenner said he was a ninja snow ranger....so he went to school dressed this way:

Our little bay has had a little friend lately!

This seal loves coming near the shore when the kids are out to investigate!  We finally managed to get a better picture of him!

And lastly!!!!  Spring Fling Party!!!

The contest was to come dressed spring like....

Here are Ender and Nia's contributions....

I think Ender's spring is much, much colder than Nia's!

Neighbor's

We had ourselves some visitors yesterday.  It was very entertaining to hear these guys honking the whole way into the bay.  And then they flew into our yard.  The kids loved that.  They watched as several of the geese decided to hang out in our front yard.

All was well of course until we closed the window we had opened to get their picture.  It sounded like a gunshot so of course...off they flew....
