Cold...not that kind

Well we have managed to be among the firsts to get our colds on.  Got to love self starters right?  Blauch!

I hate getting colds, and infants with colds are that much worse.

So far Nia and I are the only ones, but were there is a family, there is also a built in pharmacy for the constant sharing and epidemics of different bugs.

Mail Dredd

There is something to be said about not having to think about avoiding your mail.  I mean we still get it, and yes there is almost always something you don't want to see...we have five kids....we almost always have a bill that has been finally processed by our insurance coming through...but knowing that you only get it once a week does relieve some of that stress...

We go and we get mail, but this way it is quite fun looking forward to seeing what "goodies" your box will hold this week.

Yesterday we did get our last mid-week delivery until fishing season starts up again.  So, bummer on not getting mail on Wednesday, but let's be honest.  We didn't want the mail, we wanted the packages...

Hopefully I will be able to post a few picture of the photo shoot we did of Nia trying on a bunch of her new clothes.  We finally got the fall and winter clothes we ordered for her in....that was a fun time...

FLEX

I don't believe I have been this tired since we got here.  It seems to have been a very long week and a half...

I have been back on lunch lady duty and it can be exhausting...I know that as you get older...like my delicate...hhhuuhhummm...years you do slow down and get tired, but being desperate to go to bed by nine hasn't happened since I had Nia. Although I think I have figured out why it is so tiring...  Its not the kids believe it or not....

When I was working at the library you would get pockets of time that you had a rush of people come through and you felt like you were in the middle of a feeding frenzy...  Well prepping lunch, serving it, and then cleaning up is a lot like that...

The highlight of my day so far, because of the call to duty once again, was making peanut butter fingers...yum...and breaking out my newly arrived printer....yeah technology!

Fall is here

We have had two days of amazingly rainy and windy weather...for us it is amazingly cause I don't think I have seen crazy weather like this before.  Not even with the flash floods in the deserts....one minute you have a drizzle that you have become accustomed too and the next you would think you were in the middle of a good old Utah blizzard.  That is how fast and thick the rain has been coming down.

And today we started to get ice chunks floating in on the tide.  That was pretty cool to see.  Not huge chunks or anything...but pretty amazing to see.
If we manage it the kids want to go out to the point (I wrote about this last month) and see how the high tides and the storm changes it...

Many Many Things

You think with me being a "housewife" these days I would find it easier to get on the computer.  But you think wrong.  If you want to try me, try doing anything on an electronic gizmo with Nia around.  She is the Queen of all things Electronic if you ask her.

But it is catch up time I guess...

We had quite a fun time on Sunday.  We finally received our package from the Branch President.  We were able to hold sacrament.  That was a neat and learning experience for all involved.  After primary was over, for the sharing time activity the kids built boats with our "help" to be kind of like Nephi getting instruction from the Lord on how to build a boat.  Nothing complicated, just origami boats, but the kids had a blast trying to float them and seeing whose last the longest....Raiden won that one.
What do you expect when you basically waterproof your boat by covering the page in wax crayon?

Monday was quite fun too.  We have had a lot of rain and that has brought out our Sea Otter (yet to be named) and Seal..  the kids (mostly at Judge's insistence) have named him Harbor.  He actually is getting closer and closer to the shore...but I have yet to get a great picture of him.
In the middle of the ripples you should find him...

Tuesday was entertaining as well.  The school had a field trip to the landing dock.  Ms. Ross the other teacher has been out of town and so the whole school went to greet her.  The kids love every chance they get to go play on the dock.  Don't worry though...they all wear lifejackets...
Living as close as we do to the docks you can hear every single conversation that is going on when people are down there.  The kids are no exception.  They are loud enough you could be in the same room with them....but they do have a lot of fun...

On top of all this I have had the pleasure (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) of being the lunch lady again.  That is a challenge I don't think people get paid enough for...but the kids did eat good....soup and toast one day and spaghetti and corn the next....although I had some upset kiddies on Monday that I hadn't brought them one of my homemade treats as desert....I did take them chocolate pudding on Tuesday so I think all was forgiven.

So do you see why I don't always get on to catch you up on our busy lives???

Peacock's go marching one by one...hurahh?

As you can see we had quite the morning hike.  We set off to go to Ship's Cove that is in the top of the picture...but since we all weren't wearing our rain boots...shame on us!....we didn't get there.  We did make quite the trip all the way around the bay though as you can see.

The kids did get to see the boat graveyard up close...we walked through it....and we found the boardwalks on the other side of the bay.  We are looking forward to sometime in the future going back over and walking up the boardwalk to the lake you can see.

Thank goodness...because of many little tired feet and wet toes....a neighbor gave the boys their first boat ride across the bay to the dock...  We do feel blessed to have landed...literally...in such a beautiful area with such nice people....  Also we are very grateful not to have to trek back around... Maybe another day when we are all more robust!  Haha...

But I know Kale in particular is a happy fella.  He is the proud owner of a new fishing license and is as we speak going out to the mouth of the bay to fish...  Hopefully he will bringing home some dinner...not tonight's but at least tomorrows.....

Game Night

First I should start off by saying as remote as we are and without TV we still remember the events of 9/11.  Families and friends are in our prayers today...

On to other things....We got our package of games today!  Yea!!!  Hopefully tonight we can have a family game night.  Either epic fun or class 5 tornado chaos...you never know what you are going to get...

If our little Miss Onre`  will co-operate who knows....she is healing fine...just pains....she isn't quite the cheerful trooper we are used to....how we miss it....

Back to P.A.

I tried to keep up to date, but my tablet and I had major disagreements on what that meant while I was gone.  Apparently to it, it meant that I could check but not post things.  Who knew that is what up to date means?...

Nia is doing much better thank goodness.  She was a pretty good trooper through it all...as much as a one year old can be any way...

But the leg ended up only being fractured and not broken so that was good news of sorts.  At least we will not be needing to fly up to Sitka to get a cast off or anything...

Nia did make a friend while we were in Sitka.  We stayed with Bishop Hart and his family.  They had a very nice dog named...forgive the spelling...D'Artagnan.....who loves little kids and Nia was thrilled with him by the end of the week...

It is nice to be home though.  I do miss my boys after I have been away....I enjoy being their mom very much.

We did get to see many nice views and meet people.  This was one of our favorites...
The coast is gorgeous and I had never been up close to a cruise ship so it was pretty neat to see.  This is shot not to far from the public library.  The views from there are awesome....

The best one still has to be this one....
...after all who doesn't love to come home???

A Real Live Alaskan Adventure

We had a great Sunday.  I hope the rest of you did too!  After church we went on a hike into the back bay.  It was long (according to little feet) and fun.  Lots of sun and perfect weather...

Then later we enjoyed some beach time while the tide stayed low...only downfall to that is that it eventually has to end...

The other downside was Raiden slipped while holding our Nia.  Poor little princess.  We got her all calmed down and everything appeared to be okay.  Now we aren't so sure...
We had our neighbor Molly come and take a look.  She has EMT for situations like this around here.  She wont put any weight at all on her right leg and cries when you try to examine her.  So since our insurance office isn't open today, I mean these things only happen on holidays, we don't know if they will cover a plane if we charter it.  That is around $600 for a one way pop.  So we are waiting till tomorrow unless she gets better and then Nia and I are going for a plane ride up to Sitka.

Looks like she might have our first major booboo in Alaska and unfortunately the second in our short line of broken bones...with five kids I guess that is pretty good though.  We will let everyone know when we know what is up...
